My course in therapy is to pursue a real-world approach backed by ongoing education and clinical experience. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and licensed by the State of Nebraska as an Independent Mental Health Practitioner. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in therapeutic, advocacy and educational settings since 2002 and have worked as a licensed therapist since 2015. My goal is to use my personal and professional experiences to meet the needs of my clients. I strive to empower you to achieve your success.
I enjoy working to build connections between you and the people that matter. My personal experience as a husband and parent influences my intentions as I help families strengthen their relationships. My role as a parent affects how I relate to my clients as I lean into my personal experiences, parenting children both adopted and biological, including the challenges of parenting teens.
I strive to serve those also impacted by adoption. As a graduate of the accredited Training for Adoption Competency (TAC), provided by C.A.S.E., I am trained to promote healthy family relationships while understanding the impact adoption has on the child, parents, birth parents and the entire family system.
As a male therapist, I recognize the value that therapy can have for all people, including men. Men are often reluctant to initiate therapy services, often leaving symptoms untreated or turning to unhealthy strategies to cope with their struggles. I hope to lessen the stigma and provide therapeutic services for adolescent and adult men as you seek to improve your well-being.
I provide guidance through a variety of difficulties experienced by individuals and families including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, trauma and disruptive behaviors. I want to help you understand the reasons behind behaviors and learn to listen to what your body is telling you. I use a variety of methods to help clients of all ages and backgrounds achieve their goals. I strive to incorporate creativity and humor into my counseling practice. I find value in using the methods that work best for you to connect and reach your goals. I practice evidenced-based therapy models to facilitate change for individuals and families, including TF-CBT, AF-CBT, PCIT and EMDR.
In addition to providing therapy to my clients, I provide clinical supervision for new therapists as they begin their journey towards helping others. I believe we learn and grown as individuals and professionals through collaboration and am fortunate to achieve this with my colleagues at Child & Family Therapy Institute of Nebraska.
My education includes a Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College and a BA in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I am a National Board-Certified Counselor, a member of the American Counseling Association and the Nebraska Counseling Association. I am owner of Matt Fosket Counseling, LLC, and work as part of the team of independent contractors at Child & Family Therapy Institute of Nebraska.
