Jennifer L. Smith, MPPA, PLMHP, NCC
Jenni is a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) who is joining the CFTI team under the supervision of Kris Steinbeck, MS, LIMHP, NCC. Jenni holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha as well as a Master of Public Policy & Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Under the supervision of Phoebe Jordan, PhD, Jenni completed her internship through UNMC/MMI at Children’s Clinic Dundee where she worked via telehealth in an integrated behavioral health setting with children and adolescents and their parents with a variety of needs. Jenni is experienced in working with a range of populations and needs including children/parents with compliance/behavioral concerns, adolescents with anxiety/depression concerns, and adults with relational/communication concerns.
Jenni also enjoys working with the LGBTQ+ population. Jenni is a lifelong learner who believes that a strong therapeutic alliance is the foundation for helpful change. Her theoretical framework is integrated, drawing from several evidence-based theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Transactional Analysis, working to match techniques and practices with each individual client based on their unique needs.
