Matt Fosket

Matt Fosket - Landscape (640x427)Matt Fosket MA, LMHP, NCC is a National Certified Counselor and licensed by the State of Nebraska as a Mental Health Therapist with a Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College.  Additionally, Matt holds a BA in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and has thirteen years experience in working with children and families. Matt recognizes the importance of the entire family unit and particularly the interaction and relationship between parents and their children in regards to the child’s mental well-being.

Matt has experience working with the family dynamics during and after a crisis or trauma and can help facilitate healthy change for those family members. Trauma experienced by any individual will inevitably impact the entire family system. Matt is experienced in working with both primary trauma victims as well as the entire family system to facilitate healing and growth in response to those life stressors.

Matt’s experience in the fields of education, social services and criminal justice provide him with additional insight to help family members experiencing challenges in these areas as well as professionals experiencing occupational stressors within these and other occupational areas.  Matt is certified in the evidenced-based treatment, Alternatives for Families – A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) and is trained in the evidenced-based treatments, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).  Matt is an authorized facilitator for the nationally recognized, evidenced-based prevention training, Stewards of Children, a program of the organization Darkness to Light.  Matt conducts training for both community members and professionals, covering topics including sexual abuse education and prevention, managing stress and other mental health related topics.

Matt’s emphasis on child well-being include his involvement with The Lincoln County Child Abuse Prevention Council, Great Plains Health’s Footsteps Grief Camp, The Nebraska Children’s Home Society, Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center, as well as his service as an AmeriCorps member through the Monroe-Meyer Institute of UNMC in Omaha.  Matt is a member of the American Counseling Association.  He is a National Certified Counselor, credentialed by the National Board for Certified Counselors.  Matt conducted both his practicum and internship hours under the supervision of Kris Steinbeck, MS, LIMHP, NCC at the Child and Family Therapy Institute of Nebraska.
