Kris is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Therapist who works with individuals of all ages with a wide spectrum of issues using evidenced based practices. Along with adult, adolescent, child, and family therapy, Kris works with thriving adults who wish to make advancement in their goal setting and future based thinking.

Kris is a National Certified Counselor, holds a Nebraska license for Mental Health Therapy and a Provisional Licensed Substance Abuse Therapist. Kris is experienced and well-versed in Play Therapy models and treatment specifically around trauma and child growth.  Kris is certified in specific evidence based practices Parent Child Interaction Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  Additionally, she is trained in the evidence based practices Child Parent Psychotherapy, and Alternatives for Families Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Kris is the owner of Child and Family Therapy Institute of Nebraska.  Kris utilizes state wide collaborative efforts with other mental health professionals to continue to improve upon the services available for individuals and families. She offers telehealth counseling services to for those who have distance, medical, or other challenges preventing them from participating in traditional in-office treatment.

Kris provides trauma trainings to other professionals and caretakers in several different capacities. Kris teaches about the how trauma and chronic stress impacts people, answers the “why” questions many staff have around children and parent’s behaviors and choices, and then provides hands on, skill based training to help manage the events in the moment. She modifies trainings to fit the needs of the specific agencies she is training.

Kris is a trainer for other Licensed Mental Health Therapists that wish to pursue certification in the evidence based model of Parent Child Interaction Therapy. Kris received this training certification through Beverly Funderburk, Ph.D at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and she is in the process of obtaining the Train the Trainer level by PCIT International.

Kris’s vision is to provide individuals and families effective, time oriented therapy that fits their own values and vision for themselves while incorporating educational components to increase their understanding to impact future choices they wish to have for themselves and their families.
